Porch de Salomon Update

Covid19 Response

Please take a moment to watch the videos to the left to see how Porch de Salomon is reaching out to help the people of Guatemala.

You, our “strong and good” mission partners, have provided the funds and encouragement to do that. Thank you and may God bless you all.

Our Ministry

Porch de Salomon is a response to God calling several families and their friends into lives of love and service in Panajachel, Guatemala. We hope to bring the passion of the first century church to those who live in a 21st century world.

Solomon’s Porch was an ancient, open place where people seeking transformation gathered to explore Jesus of Nazareth’s radical message of love and redemption.

With this in mind, God has used us, and many others, to develop friendships and relationships in Panajachel, the world’s #4 hippie travel destination. Porch is among Central America’s most progressive Jesus-based ministries; we serve, smile, walk and cry with the indigenous, Ladino, expatriates and tourists.

Porch seeks to provide a “safe” place where you can be yourself, celebrated as an individual, whether ministering or being ministered to, and know you are part of God’s creation, with a special purpose in life.

While we are open to divine answers, we also look to dwell in the mystery that is life in “the Way.” We invite you to this place with no preconceived notions of who you should be.

If you are looking for an experience that will challenge you, stretch your faith, and welcome you into something bigger than yourself, then come be a part of what God is doing through Porch de Salomon.

Our Focus

Just a few of the ways we are making a difference

We Help Feed Families

Guatemala suffers from the world’s 10th worst chronic malnutrition rate. Porch de Salomon is working to change this with a feeding program which provides eggs, beans, milk and other protein rich foods.

$60/month provides for one family.

We Provide Scholarships

Many children in our area can’t afford to go to school. Being able to provide an opportunity for a child’s education can make a huge difference.

$240 can send a child to school for one year and can make a difference in their life.

We Provide Clean Water

By giving families the Eco Filtro water filtration system and teaching them how to use it, we are preventing sickness and disease that is found in the water here.

$60 provides one filtration system and we educate the family on how to use it.

We Help Provide Sustainable Income

We endeavor to provide sustainable income for families we help. Alberto and Antonio are two brothers who work very hard and we are glad to be partnering with them to give their family a better life.

We Provide Outreach Through Music and More

Solomon’s Porch Café serves coffee, food & beverages, live music and hosts our weekly worship gathering as well as school and community functions.

Music is universal and helps us connect with people who may not otherwise listen.

We Provide Help, Hope and Healing

We provide help, hope and healing for those with addictions. We believe “there’s a chance for everybody.” Watch Lonny’s powerful story of addiction and recovery from alcoholism.

Mission Testimonials

Dave Evans – Team Chicago

Thanks for hosting our team – everyone had a great experience, and seemed to expand their vision of the good work they can do. This team also had some real synergy around expanding their relationship with God through connecting with

Kyle Brown – Geist Christian Church

Our short-term team had a blast and loved the ministry and work you are doing with “the lost, the least, and the last” of Guatemala. One team member, who has been on many mission trips, expressed how Porch de Salomon

Morgan Van Horn – Tallahassee

I’ve never been welcomed into a home and extended “family” such as Porch de Salomon’s. I now feel as if I have a family and a home of my own in Guatemala. Ofelia (in photo below) especially touched my heart;

Michael Bateman, Team Element 3

A CHANGE OF TASTE by Michael Bateman I never felt “called” to the global mission field. Even hearty encouragement by experienced people fell on deaf ears. Things like “making of new friends” and “having a real connection with the indigenous people”

Chris Holley (Tallahassee, FL)

I was one of four rookies on Team Brandon/Roper/Shalley (known in the evenings as “Team Moza”). What a blessing it was to be part of the team and to experience God’s love as shared through the work of Porch de

Gina Gravatt (Ione, CA team)

THANKS for an amazing week Melanie, Lloyd, Will, Guatemala Joe, Mirna and kitchen ladies, Noe, Nik and construction crew and all the wonderful people who serve through the Porch. We are blessed to call you friends and even more blessed
